Burning the Ships

I said last week I had a big announcement brewing and today I’m letting everybody in on the news:  I’m going out of business! Don’t panic.  I don’t mean my coaching business.  I’m talking about my video business, Moore Video.  After 8 years I’m closing it down to focus full-time on my coaching. Being a small business owner is a tough gig, reflected in the odds of a business succeeding or failing.  I was always very proud that Moore Video defied those odds.  In fact, despite assurances by others that it takes a LONG time for most businesses to be...

Six Weeks to Success 2013

Don’t you hate when some guy says, “There’s a really big announcement coming up on my site soon!” but doesn’t tell you what that announcement is about?  Me too. Today I’m that guy.  I have some big stuff going on that I’m really happy to announce.  I promise to let you in on the secret next week.     Today however it is time to get the word out that I’m launching another round of Six Weeks to Success at the start of the new year!  Last year I ended up having five groups do this and it was truly amazing some of the stuff that was accomplished: Somebody created a...

Bliss

What I did on my summer vacation (Part 3) The final leg of our “end of summer fun” was going to the beach with some of our very best friends.  It was a quick trip.  Quicker than we’d have liked.  But when you get a chance to see awesome folks you grab it, no matter the brevity. We were walking on the beach in the cool afternoon, enjoying the sunshine and watching the people on display in that narrow slice of world between the cottages and the ocean.  Up ahead somebody was playing at the edge of the surf. Of course somebody playing in the water at the beach is normally not...

Applied Abundance

What I did on my summer vacation (Part 2)  We made it back from the mountains and settled back into life for a whole week before it was time to get on the move again.  This time we were taking a family trip to the beach with my wife’s parents.  I planned to head down mid-week but then I spoke to a friend/client. A note here about friends and clients:  A great many of my clients to date are people I am friends with.  That’s no surprise since I love helping my friends.  I guess it should also be no surprise that I’ve become friends with everybody I’ve worked with who wasn’t a...

The Price of Admission

What I did on my summer vacation (Part 1)  I didn’t really see it coming, but we scheduled kind of a LOT of vacation time for September.  I’m happy to report it’s been a really fun month for a lot of reasons but mostly because of the awesome people we’ve spent our time with.  I generally advise people to try to leave work behind when they go on vacation but I admit I’m better at giving that advice than taking it.  As a result, I found myself absorbing a lot of wisdom in my travels and I’ll relate some of it here. Our first stop was to visit some great...

Off to Adventure!

So, if you really know me at all, you know that I’m a “gamer”.  I’ve noticed that these days this term gets applied a lot to people who have an Xbox.  But I was a gamer before it was cool.  I’m talking about Dungeons & Dragons, etc.  Sitting around a table playing what we call RPG’s or Role Playing Games is something that I’ve done on a regular basis since I was 10 years old.   At this late date I feel no real need to justify having a geeky hobby.  But I’ll do it a little bit anyway: Gaming has had a tremendously positive impact on...
